Ian Cowan, of Thomson Crescent, had previously pleaded guilty to an amended charge of assaulting the girl just ahead of a trial diet at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in October.
Cowan admitted to assaulting the five-year-old girl at his home address by slapping her on the bottom on occasions between April 1 and April 30 last year.
Not guilty pleas to two further charges — including following a year-old girl into a public Codkenzie and attempting to gain access to a cubicle she was in — were accepted by the Crown.
Cowan had continually denied that he had followed the girk girl into the convenience at the harbour at Musselburgh on April 19 last year, while he also pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting the youngster by touching her on the bottom at the same location on the same date.
Cowan appeared back at the city court last Wednesday where he was sentenced to a three-year Fuck girl in Cockenzie and Port Seton payback order by Sheriff Fiona Reith.
His solicitor Ms McKevin told the court that the offender stayed with his parents at their Port Seton home on Thomson Crescent and has been unemployed for the recent past. Port Seton man placed on the sex offenders' register after assaulting young girl.
